Amy and I went to Idaho Falls for a Wetlands class. Our
instructors were K.C. Jones and Alana.
We started with an activity where we had to write our name in Latin using a Genus and Species. We then drove to the Camas Wildlife Preserve. The park manager took us on a tour and explained that there were 20,000 birds in one day at the Preserve earlier this spring. He said the goal of the preserve was to provide a place of rest and food on their migration routes. We also learned that Wetlands just means that the land is underwater for only part of the year. Along the drive we saw about 6 antelope. We broke for lunch and saw a rabbit, I tried to get a picture but it was to fast. During lunch we looked at birds as they flew overhead. After lunch we did a "bird word" project where we learned how to write down how a bird sounds. We also had to write a sentence describing a bird and also wrote some bird poetry. We also learned about bird calls. After lunch we drove around some more and then went back to Idaho Falls. Here are the pictures I took, along with what some of the things are.
