Monday 5-31-04

We started work about 7:45. 

We cut the pillar forms down and put them in the holes and leveled them and back filled two of them.  We will pour them tomorrow.

We then started sheeting the back of the house, and as you can see got about half of it done.  You can also notice our artistic skills.  Matt wrote the "This Sucks" and I put the target on the roof for the spray planes :)

We quit about 1:00 for lunch.

About 3:30 dad and I came back and built the wall under the stairs, put blocking in the kitchen and bathroom.  Dad left and I started working on nailing the jacks into the truss hangers with 16d nails.  I also put the correct hangers on the corner jacks.

I also tore off the wrong hanger and put the correct one on the A1 something truss.

Oh, you can see the killdeer eggs I found.  When I have been filling up the gatoraid jug the last week, the killdeer would come right up to me and do her little "play hurt" act to get me away from her nest.  Today, she came even closer, so I knew the nest was really close so I started looking more closely.  About 5 feet from the water spigot I found it.  As soon as I got a few inches away, she really got into her act and came within about a foot of me to try to get me to chase her.  We put some boards around the nest so we wouldn't step on the nest and then left her alone.

Matt said that Boots had fun killing about 30 baby mice this morning when he moved some lumber on the side of his garage.  She didn't eat them, just killed them.  Good kitty :)
