The day started out at 6:30am for Matthew, and for me at
about 7:00. I didn't know Matt was going to be out so early or I would
have as well. We had a few things to finish before the crane showed up at 8:00. At a little after 8, the crane showed up and he set it up. It was a 140 ton crane and they charge $120 an hour. Shortly thereafter, Ron and Lee showed up for work. We started with three of the big trusses on the East end, we set them and started with the very front truss on the garage, then started in the back of the garage and started working our way forward. After we got them on, Lee and I started putting the flooring on while Matt and Dad started putting the rest of the trusses on above the living room. We then started on the home theater trusses. Sometime in this area, I really wasn't paying attention, and really can't remember, we sent Chuck to Franklin to get some more glue for the floor, and then worked on more trusses. For lunch, Chuck went back to Franklin to get two more boxes of truss spreader things and then to Little Ceasers for pizzas. We then continued with the trusses working our way to the West end. We found more trusses that were damaged with broken ribs which we fixed as best we could, and found three more trusses that were wrong. The one on the very back of the living room is 3 inches taller than the rest, the ones that go in the doorway area of the trusses were also to tall (see pictures grandpa, I'll call you Sunday afternoon to talk to you about them). Also while Matt and Dad were putting up trusses, Lee and I started working on the floor to the home theater with the tongue and groove. We got it half done (just like the room above the garage) and then got called off to help with setting trusses. The crane finished at about 6:30, and my bill will be about $1,080 for the day. Ron and Lee left a while after that, as well as dad. Matt and I finished the floor in the home theater and room above the garage, and cleaned up some mess. Mom showed up and swept up most of the rooms as well. We also have quite a few of the hurricane straps on, and got some other stuff done as well. Matt and I quit about 9:00 and neither of us can walk since our legs are so tired. Pictures: First 8 are from last nights work, the rest are from today's work. Grandpa, you can see pictures of damaged trusses in the pictures, as well as the ones that were too tall. |
