Today I ordered 5.5 yards of 4000 psi concrete with fiber for the garage
floor to be delivered at 5:15 since I had a meeting after work. Dad brought Lee with him to help us screed the concrete. We had no trouble pouring it or screeding it since we poured it wet. While we were mag floating it Bishop Jones drove by and saw us working and pulled in. He had finished pouring 168 yards at one of the Stake Centers in Rupert for their parking lot and had all the construction companies concrete tools with him. He said he would power smooth the floor for us. He said he would be back when it was hard in a couple hours. When he came he smoothed it out pretty good and then went to a volley ball game. He showed me how to run the machine and while he was gone I smoothed it twice. The first time wasn't to bad, but the second time it grabbed and threw me and I tore the crap out of the surface. After looking at my bleeding ankle and making sure I didn't destroy the machine, I grabbed a trowel and some water and went about fixing all the divots and boot prints. The Bishop showed up a while later and smoothed it again and then went to play another volleyball game. When he showed up again, he started smoothing it and Dad showed up and then Matt got there from getting off work. I went home at about 10:30 Right now the floor is smmooooottttthhhhhh. Tomorrow after the Bishop pours more concrete he said he would come over when he got home from a trip to Idaho Falls after he gets done. With luck, the other side will be just as smooth. |
