Today I got out of bed at 8:30 and went to Franklin to get
some supplies. You cannot walk in the door there without spending $100
or more. Between chalk (5 lbs), another snap line, a concrete
drill bit, a new pair of framing gloves at $26 a pair, a router bit and some
pencils Dad got there about 9:30ish and we started putting the South wall together when I realized that Matt made a mistake somehow and that the windows in the bathroom were not in the right place. After figuring out what was wrong, we were about ready to fix it when Grandpa showed up. We snapped quite a few lines where the walls will go and then worked on fixing the South wall. We got it all built and stood up. We also got the West and East main walls built and stood up as well. We used a router bit to cut out the OSB for the windows. We also built the 12' wide wall in the master bedroom and were in the process of lifting it up with the forklift when a gust of wind grabbed it (16' tall wall) and threw it forward onto the forklift. CRASH! Matt said a expletive, and I was thinking the same thing. After checking out the damage, we determined that only the top was destroyed which was no big deal since we were going to cut that part off when the trusses arrived anyway. We got it raised back into place and have it secured for the most part. With luck, everything is still standing tomorrow and the stupid wind isn't blowing 30 mph like it did all day. The pictures below show yesterdays work. |
