I made it to the construction site about 9am after helping
to clean the church. Dad and I then went and loaded up the rebar that
I had left over from bending my uprights for the foundation. After
unloading it, we went to Franklin, then Stars Ferry and then Ronco to get
hurricane straps for the garage. No one had any so I will have to use
long bolts to secure the stud walls to the stem walls. About 10:00 Ron and Lee showed up. We started with the inside walls and whalered them up. We used nearly 2 full bunks of 3/4 CDX, we also did not have to open the second bunk of 16' 2x4's which is good news. We worked until 7:30 and then cleaned up. We were all tired. The only thing we didn't get finished is installing the whalers around the inside perimeter of the garage. We will do that tomorrow after church and then do straighten and brace all the walls. Monday we will finish up and gather up stuff to pour the concrete in the afternoon. Also John came over to borrow the forklift and I told him we would be ready to order concrete. Mom also watered my trees and brought lunch for us. Oh, only 3 pictures today since the batteries in the camera died. These show yesterdays work. |
